What Is Vaginoplasty (Vaginal Tightening)?
Vaginoplasty is a surgical procedure performed to correct vaginal widening. Childbirth, aging, and decreased tissue elasticity can cause vaginal widening over time, which may affect both aesthetic appearance and functional quality of life. We do not perform vaginoplasty; however, we provide guidance to help patients connect with proper planning and experienced surgeons.
How Is Vaginoplasty Performed?
The procedure involves repairing the vaginal mucosa along with the surrounding muscular tissue. If only the mucosa is repaired, the vagina may quickly return to its previous width. Therefore, both mucosal repair and muscle tightening are performed together. The operation is conducted under general anesthesia in an operating room and usually takes about 1 hour. Patients are typically discharged the same day; in certain cases, an overnight hospital stay may be required.
Surgery and Recovery
Swelling is normal during the first 3–4 days post-surgery. A follow-up examination is conducted on the fifth day. Dissolvable sutures are used, so suture removal is unnecessary. Showering is allowed from the tenth day, and genital hygiene should be carefully maintained. Sexual activity is usually resumed starting from the sixth week.
Combined Approach
Vaginoplasty is often combined with labiaplasty in the same session. This combined approach improves both aesthetic appearance and functional results, increasing patient satisfaction and sexual quality of life.
Conclusion
Vaginoplasty aims to enhance women’s confidence and quality of life both aesthetically and functionally. When planned with the correct technique and experienced surgeons, it provides natural, safe, and lasting results. Our role is to provide guidance for a conscious and correctly planned process.
