What Is Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)?
Rejuvenation and a Healthy Appearance Around the Eyes
Eyelid surgery is a surgical procedure performed to correct sagging of the eyelids caused by genetic factors or aging. In advanced cases, conditions that may narrow the field of vision and negatively affect eye health are also corrected, providing both aesthetic and functional benefits.
DoctorAesthetica does not directly perform eyelid surgery; however, it provides guidance to help patients safely connect with experienced surgeons through proper planning.
How Is Blepharoplasty Performed?
- Upper eyelids, lower eyelids, or both can be operated on together
- Incision lines are placed within the natural eyelid folds, making scars barely noticeable after healing
- If both eyelids are treated together, general anesthesia is usually preferred
- Local anesthesia may be sufficient for upper eyelid surgery alone
Operation duration:
- Single eyelid: Approximately 1 hour
- Upper and lower eyelids together: Approximately 1.5 hours
Surgery and Recovery Process
- Patients are usually discharged on the same day
- Swelling, bruising, and edema are normal during the first few days
- Follow-up examination: Day 5
- Showering: Allowed from day 10
Eyelid surgery can be performed alone or combined with procedures such as facelift or temporal lift to achieve more comprehensive and balanced facial rejuvenation.
